Some links to things I've been reading or watching that you might also enjoy:

1. Orwell on Hayek. I was excited to discover that George Orwell reviewed Friedrich Hayek's The Road to Serfdom, along with Konni Zilliacus's The Mirror of the Past, in the April 9, 1944 issue of The Observer (a year before Animal Farm was published and five years before Nineteen Eighty-Four appeared).

2. 'The Lab-Leak Hypothesis', a January Intelligencer article by Nicholson Baker that holds up well.

3. It would appear Kahneman et al's new book Noise contains some noise of its own -- see this tweet by Rachael Meager.

4. Thucydides’s Trap Case File, by Harvard's Belfer Center. The file contains summaries of all sixteen cases where a rising power threatened an incumbent over the past 500 years.

5. The NEW Shock of the New, Robert Hughes' 2004 update to his classic 1980 BBC documentary series.

Have a nice weekend,

Joe
